bells 5 Posted July 14, 2011 Report Share Posted July 14, 2011 when cold the engine sounds like it needs the tappits ajusting , when warm theres no noise at all , does the head gear need replacing ? ie shims or cam rollers , the engine is an early one that vw only used for about 24 months Link to post Share on other sites

GEPY 0 Posted July 16, 2011 Report Share Posted July 16, 2011 i would say its timing chains wen engine is cold oil is thick and the tensioner aint getting enough oil but wen its warn oil thins and luricates every thing as it should. ne history? i think thats wat it is?
