Rossymond 0
Hi all, new member and all that jazz I've just bought a 97 mk3 highline and am setting to work giving it some TLC. I wanted to ask if there are any common problems with Idle control valves, etc etc as when my VR is started, generally when its warm, it starts fine and as the revs drop its almost as if the idle control valve isnt fast enough to respond and it struggles a bit then dies. hold the revs above 1k for just a second or two and its fine.Any thoughts?Ross
MJ Vr6 79
ICV all situated in Throttle body mate.Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with throttle.Disconnect you MAF, and then start car. Will be a tad lumpy at first till ECU reads that MAF is off.See if it idles ok then.
Rossymond 0
Disconnecting the MAF made no difference. When the engine is cold, is starts and idles with no problem. It's when its a warm start its the problem.
spindat45 0
Have you cleaned inside the throttle body? I had a similar problem with mine. I took off the throttle body, gave it a good clean internally with carb/injector cleaner and it cured it. It's something I used to do as part of a service when I worked at a garage years ago. Might be worth a try.Kevin
