What a Day

Recommended Posts

So today i headed up to the vr6specialist here in holland for tuning my new supercharged motor , firstly the ecu during tuning was acting weird by going into limp home mode and cutting the advanced timing back to 0 .

Then we had the imobilizer keep jumping in while driving and to top it off the isv kept adjusting itself even after the nice guy at vr6s kept telling it not to . anyways after about 3 hours of turning we got the car running sweet and making just under 260 whp .

Now during the weekend i had changed over my cylinder head dude to the valves not being in the best condition and springs but also the serp belt tensioner bolt locations were fooked , the 1 bolt hole that is right on the edge of the block had completely gone and missing probably due to the last owner trying to tighten it too much and cracked the head .

Anyways during driving back from the vr6s i noticed my car smelt funny , like something was burning . I pulled over and popped the bonnet and loads of smoke was coming out , I noticed as i had put the manifold back i had bent the heatshield and the isolation was touching the exhaust and this had started to smolder and later caught fire .

Me going crazy trying to flag cars down on a motor way hoping someone had a extinguisher . luckly a nice guy in a vw sharan pulled over and had one . So crisis was averted , pulled all the burnt iso out and bent the heat shield back and all was good .

By the time all this was over i ended up being 4 hours late for work but atleast i still had my lovely vr6 . I think from now on i will be be carrying a extinguisher with me just incase . Just felt like sharing :-)

Oh and if anyone is in holland and want something doing with your vr6 or r32 etc defo go to the guys at the vr6specialist , top people and very helpful .

Cheers all

William
