richierich37 236
excuse my vague description but the last few day my vr6 golfs engine is making a ticking noise when idling. i cant even pinpoint it to a side, it just sounds like it coming from the engine!my mate said it sounds like a quiet tractor when i drove away from him.car is an auto with about 80K miles on it.my mechanic is not experanced on vr's thus i'm asking incase its a common noise fault etc.i'm now not using the car incase its serious although it drives perfect.TIA for any advice (h)
spadam 7
Take a closer listen to your belt tensioner or possibly timming chains. If you increase the revs does the noise increase/ get faster.
