hoppinmad 0
iam running D90s with 45 profile tyres at the moment but iam going to get rid of and run some wheels that fit without adapters. iam going to go back to a motorsport style of wheel. this is were i want opinions on wheel size. iam thinking of running 15s due to the fact i can then use 50 profile tyres, the roads in my area are so f***£d i was thinking the 50 profile would help cut down on the amount of zig zagging around pot holes i have to do. my vr is my daily and i have never had 15s only 16s or 17s what do people think. hope its in the right section dont think of it as a technical issueTy

spadam 7
Acceleration and handling suffer.Ive never experienced 17s though only what people have said. I had 16s and 15s
hoppinmad 0
i didnt get on with 17s at all, they came with the vr and didnt stay for long and i think the size of the 16s suit it from a visual point of view but iam more interested in the way it drives now and want to get it right fist time cant afford to buy them and find out the hard way they arnt right
oldmandon 1
Acceleration and handaling sufferI asked that question in a different thread, and I thought the conclusion was so long as the overall rolling diameter was the same it didn't matter???
J5KE F 0
My old mk3 with 17's handled like poo and i reakon looked a bit chavvy (sorry ben)16's ride well and so do 15's to be honest..But to be honest it is also down to the tyres

bungy 2
There I was thinking 16's were the way to go so was looking for 16's' date=' asked my question and it appeared that it didn't matter so bought 17's and now you say I should have got what I was looking for in the first place!!!!!!!!!! JEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZ you guys are hard to please..............[/quote']As the wheel size increases the tyre profile has to decrease to keep the same rolling circumferance. With this profile decrease you get more banging and crashing in the ride as the tyre is less forgiving. I think the answer would be to go for 16's with the correct tyre profile but this is a personal view and I think that is the point and it really has to be a personal choice. Can you meet up with someone to try out wheel fitment to see if you like or not?
oldmandon 1
Don you get what you want to get fella.......16s are a good compromise of size and useable toActually I've got what my son chose!!!!!!! I still want summat different, but the wheels I bought are cool enough,I'm sure they'll look good. When I get some tyres on I'll take pics of them on my car so you can all see
craggsy 91
16s the tyre size i used was 195/45 16s and was a comfy ride.....tho I had KONI coilies as well so would expect a comfy ride lol
spadam 7
If you allready have the wheels try them out if you dont like it change back to original and sell the 17s. On the otherhand if you like the ride and look keep them as long as you are happy thats all that matters.

Also I think I will end up getting 16's when I can actually afford the ones I want, but I'll keep the 17's as I haven't seen a Mk3 with them on, Neither had HAMMER_VR6 who I got them off. But regards the acceleration bit I'm getting confused, as the overall radius will be the same. Also surely the 17's will offer better handling as there is less tyre profile, so less flex!!?? hoppinmad 0
iam leaning towards 15s, i think. just got make up my mind which ones to get now

Lot of variable when it comes to handling as the wider the wheels the more tram lining you will get. Also larger wheels tender to be heavier so affect overall performance. Not allways the case though as standard wheels are usually really heavy anyhow.
craggsy 91
iam leaning towards 15s' date=' i think. just got make up my mind which ones to get now [/quote']It also depends on what size your brakes are.....if standard then 15s will be fine
