Any website guru's?

with out spending alot of cash you will not get to the front pages mate unless your site gets loads of hits to take it there

So how do you generate hits? and what are the tricks of the trade? There must be someone out there with some knowledge as to how these things are achieved.

Links between pages are also good!

Our google analitics (worth checking out) tells us where most web traffic comes from.

Yell . com is top, build. co. uk which is a trade directory, and numerous links from suppliers and trade partners sites!

Facebook is also good or some traffic!

We could give u a sponsored link from our site easy enough but ud really nees to think of other trades that would work nicely along side yours such as insurance companies or glaziers??

How does Facebook help with your hits? Is it a case of having a named group?

Google adwords and lots of dynamic content is what you need these days.

Not many search engines use meta tags to that extent anymore...

It's all about rich and Updated content... One of the reason I have new forum posts and the Facebook box on the front page as it always being dynamically updated and search engines love that :)

its a hard world, but pete is correct. its about interesting and forward moving sites now.

content has to be relevant, links need to say what they are and link to a relevant page, no 'click here' just make the word the link.

pictures should be named what they are as google cant see pics so it reads the name and the tx behind it, so if its a vr6 then call the filename that and label it vr6 too.

make sure you keep the site up to date, add pages, new content etc so google thinks its worth coming back, if it doesnt change or update google will slow down return visits, they want to see interesting sites, that are relevant, with new content and links coming in or out to make it worth putting up there for people to see.

facebook and twitter updates are a good way, have links from them that update onto your page, but again make sure the content is relevant.

titles of the page and keywords need to relate to the page, dont just stick 30 keywords in, put about 3 for each page that are about that page and leave it at that.

add your business onto google maps too and put a link on there to your site. :)

In our early days to improve our rankings I bought out the VR6 club that ranked above us (club vr6) and redirected to our page as that page ranked number 1 when starting up for the word "vr6" now we are right up there. What I also did was put in 50 quid a month into google adwords so when specific key words this site was displayed at the top of google search results just to give us a boost...

Also, check out google site map on google webmaster tools, tons of valuable information....
