Lukey. 381
Rock the engine back and forth and side to side, you shouldnt be able to move hardly any at all if your mounts are good
rsweeney 40
yeah engine rear and front seem ok but gearbox has a fair bit of movement , could this be it ?
Lukey. 381
depends if its free or damped movement, the gearbox mount is hydraulic but they lose their fluid and it just slaps up and down freely
rsweeney 40
when i had engine and gearbox out i did notice it was leaking but didnt have the money to change it.which mount would be best to go for , its an auto so i dont thrash it about but like to give it the beans every now and again. (car is running stgandard setup)so its either oem mount , the vibra techincs road or competition one? bearing in mind all engine mounts i have are standard as yethttp://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/vw/golf_jetta_vento_mk_iii/342/VAG875M/lh_rear_gearbox_mount
Lukey. 381
If you were swapping one youd be best getting an oem replacement, they are best all matched up
filtee 0
Has this only happened since doing the shaft and brakes??Did it not do it before? If it didnt do it before, how could it be a mount?! Surely it would be something to do with the things you changed/fixed. A knackered mount wouldn't clunk, you would feel it when changing gear. filtee 0
Oh i see, sorry. Probably could be the mount then. There cheap as chips on ebay. I bought one a while ago for a previous vr and sold it a few weeks back. Cant remember how much but i think circa 20 quid at the most.
Lukey. 381
Mine did the same, prod the throttle and you'd get a big shunt then again when you lift off
