by all accounts it aint too difficult. some bolts in the scuttle and the rest is quite straightforward.

antera309 on here has just changed his interior on his cabrio so pm and see if he has any advice.

some step-by step pics would be handy if you've facilities to take them :)

could you imagine a red car with a blue dash? !ill

i've no idea what vw were thinking with the blue dash thing!?!

i've sorted out a dash and centre console. need to sort out doorcards, carpet, parcel shelf, supports and the other niggly bits of trim. not entirely sure what i'm gonna do with the seats as of yet. would like leather or recaros, but i think i'd rather spend the money on paint

Mk3 carpets come in 3 pieces - front, rear and the boot carpet.

The dash will not have to come off again to fit the carpets, but everything else will, i.e. centre console, sill trims, rear quarter trim panels (for 3-door) and seats.

You will find that the front carpet goes underneath the heater box and that two metal support brackets (one of which can be seen in the pic below, just forward of the gearlever) will prevent you from removing the carpet.

The easiest way to get around this is to cut the section of carpet that goes under the heater box front-rear. Once split, it will just pull out from under the heater box sideways and can be removed.

Make the same cut on the new carpet (if the new carpet has come out of another car, you will probably find the cut is already there!!) and refitting is the reverse of removal.

Obviously, the cut doesn't show when re-assembled, as the heater box and centre console cover it up!
