philboyvr6 0
Hi AllI have removed the head from my 1993 VR6 (water seeping form the back of the head gasket) and have found that some of the lining material on the tensioning blade has broken away, therefore, I need to replace the complete blade. My problem is I cant see an easy way of removing it. Do I need to remove the gearbox to get access to the cover remove the cover and then slide the blade out, or is there an easier way?Can anyone tell me how to do the replacement? Thanks
acf8181 0
yep, gearbox has to come out.....so you may as well replace the lot if you do that (about £100 for all the parts, from gsf - and they're o.e. parts).its always the blade runner that goes first.

acf8181 0
only other thing to be aware of is that if your clutch is quite worn its the perfect time to change it (get one from vw, only about £80 and good quality). though mine still has plenty of life left after 120k (is deffo original as well, has date stamp on it!)oh, you must use new flywheel stretch bolts as well (trust me you dont want the flywheel to break free...have heard of people loosing feet with it happening)
