Hi all,

I have a snapped coil over spring on my nearside front MK3 VR6.

Problem is.... I am unsure of the manufacure of the coil over kit and so cant order a replacement spring. The kit was fitted before I bought the motor and there is no additional paper work or markings on the strut. I do however have some pictures of the strut assembly and snapped spring, hopefully someone will be able to identify the manufacturer for me.

As the pictures show there are two springs per strut. The larger upper coil followed by a spacer / washer and then a smaller stiffer spring which sits below the larger spring. Both springs are the same diameter. The only piece of information I could get off the strut was the number 760100.

If anyone could help me find the manufacture that would be awesome as I cant get my car through the MOT without a new spring :/

Cheers folks,

Jim

Look like Jamex to me mate.. around 200 quid for new coilovers on eBay.. howevet not sure if they are called jamex anymore.

Also as a quick note, the lower smaller spring is the softer spring, when this is compressed all the way, the top main spring takes over. this gives a comfortable softer ride over most surfaces when just the softer spring can be used.

EBay item number 300570519189

Part number code is 741000 - same amount of digits, and a very similar code to the one you.found.

As I predicted, these are the Jamex ones, under a new name, but are exactly the same.

Also another little give away is its the exact shade of blue spring, not many other coilover companies use blue for some reason.

Hope this helps anyway, and good luck with finding the spring, however, if it was me, I'd take the hit and buy new at that price.
