paceo 22 Posted February 13, 2012 Report Share Posted February 13, 2012 thought id put my decat on the VR6 today!! but cant get a ratchet onto it, angle grinder wont fit in there, cant get a good whack with hammer / chisel and hacksaw wont fit in the space :@ the other bolts i will angle grind off. VR6Pete 1,455 Posted February 13, 2012 Report Share Posted February 13, 2012 9/10 its a grinder job, but if you canot remove that section, and assuming you cannot get a dremmel or smaller tool in there, i'm afraid you will probably have to drop the exhaust system down more, or access from underside from a ramp... only other thing you could try doing is using plenty of Rost Off (leave to soak in for a few days, keep applying...) and then hammer a smaller socket on there to attempt to remove... Probably easier to drop the system so you can get to it easier, but you risk knackering more bolts! Good luck! Pete Link to post Share on other sites

Timah89 1 Posted February 13, 2012 Report Share Posted February 13, 2012 i managed to get a socket on mine when i did it a few weeks ago, then as i was slackening it the bolt snapped off anyway. not an enjoyable job though, when i did get the cat off it dropped onto my jaw, they are heavy too! Vr6milligan 0 Posted February 14, 2012 Report Share Posted February 14, 2012 Managed to get the grinder in and cut the nut in the middle then hammer and chisel I'm afraid was a ball ache , drop the O2 sensor with the cat easier to remove off the car and refit before installation then just plug in.
