paceo 22
i know the civic type r is like this. but got the whole front end off the car today doing the power steering pipes and re-taping the loom. so i thought id check the oil and the level has dropped quite a bit in 3000 miles. many thanks guys.i dont notice any blue smoke out of the back of it.filled it back to half way on dipstick with a litre of oil
yakuza racer 16
after driving 1000miles i had to top up with a 500ml to get her just below full again.... i suppose they do
oldmandon 1
Pretty much all cars burn a bit of oil, my Audi A4 does, so does my Vr, but both in small amounts. I wouldn't worry too much about it, and 1 litre for 3000 miles isn't too bad.
paceo 22
cheers guys, yeah roughly 1 litre in 3000 miles so not too bad, my friends civic type r can be very juicy on oil! but my rs turbo doesnt use any oil.
Lukey. 381
This also depends on the spec of oil you use, 5w30 will disappear more quickly than 10w40

oldmandon 1
Thats the proper stuff.....stick with it as well...nothing really better for your VR
wardycatt 7
I've found that VTEC engines drink more oil than your average motor. 1l for 3,000 miles sounds about right for the VR6, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was 1l for 1,000 miles on a Honda (of a similar age). Depends how often you engage your VTEC I suppose.
