Morning

Got a 93 golf vr6 and my idle is very arratic its up and down from 200-800 fuel consumption is heavy, I have cleaned out the idle stabilastion valve, and had it on vag com and getting 2 faults

One is idle stabilation fault code which says could include MAF, or fuel regulator, or throttle body

and the other is Lambda Fault which also sayts could include Lambda , Maf , Fuel pump , regulator or injectors

Has anybody had this problem? would a good place to start by cleaning MAF and throttle body

sorry to way off the path gents but how would one test a Lambda sensor?

i have the same error codes as above:

N80 evap -

Lambda

knock sensor 2- got a new one and fitted.

Also on the fuel pump, i too have a 93 and my fuel pump looks different to that of the others, but will a normal fuel pump work, i dont want to fork out the cash and it doesn't work.

*sorry for the hijack

Thats the problem with old looking cars though. They see an old non descript car with an old fat (craggsy) driver and think awww bless the old git lets have some fun, then they think WTF just happened where'd he go!!!! Good though hey?? ;-)
