Lukey. 381
not really its sealed, you could try spraying a water mist over it and see if theres any arcing, if there is its a problem, but if there isnt it could be that its totally had it, the easiest is to try a known working coilpack, a bit of a pain to have to buy one before you know its the problem though hey
Lukey. 381
relay number 53 is for the horn, what position is it in the relay board according to this picture?numbers 17 - 24 are for optional equipment, so shouldnt have any effect on the running of the engine
Gefstar 1
There is a 53 relay in position 11.This is an extra 53 relay on some wires. It looks like the red "live" feeds into the back of position 12.. I will get photos tomorrow to confirm - Thanks for your assistance Lukey
Lukey. 381
position 12 is for the fuel pump, which fits more that its clicking when you're trying to start it, but why its there I don't know, maybe it was a "modification" at some point for some reason or some kind of fix.have you tried removing it and see if that makes a difference. Obviously providing that there's no issue with the sparks

Gefstar 1
The coilpack was the wrong one... surprising really as they had taken my reg plate! So its back to GSF and paying £78 for the right part.. Thought it was to good to be true!!

Lukey. 381
Ah they do one for the galaxy vr6 it's the same but the firing order and connectors are different it seems a common mistake factors make
Gefstar 1
Right, I have purchased quite possibly the most important thing for this build!! And for only £12.99..... a deal if there ever was one!!
lee123d 0
is it obd1 or obd2 my no spark was the coilpack i bought a new 1 off ebay put it on and fired right up
lee123d 0
if its obd1 and still looking for coilpack go on ebay item number 250905500918 £22.
Gefstar 1
Lee123d, Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately it is the coilpack that has all 6 points for the HT leads to attach. Does this mean it is OBD2? My VR6 is late 94. Was this a change over period?
oldmandon 1
95 was the change over period. OBD2 coil pack is oblong with 6 HT lead slots and a mulit plug in the top.
lee123d 0
if its on the side of the head its obd2 as mine has a distributor and my coilpack is by the scuttle panel maybe yours has had an obd2 conversion if the change is
lee123d 0
like oldmandon said see if it is a black rectangular one or a dizzy cap with the 6 points if it is dizzy cap then infront of scuttle panel will be a square pack with one lead thats the obd1
Lukey. 381
theres a check to see if your car is OBD1 or 2 thread in either the maintenance or hangout forum
Gefstar 1
Here is a pic of my engine bay.. shows the rectangular coilpack. It also has the 16 pin plug in port in the next to the ashtray. It is a Dec 94' car so I'm guessing its an early adopter of OBD2
oldmandon 1
Take a pic of the throttle body so we can have a look at it
