oldmandon 1
I thought it was the Corrado G60 final drive you needed??!! may be wrong, ask VRPETE he knows.
craggsy 91
I know the 16v ABF has a different ratio that works but can't remember what it is
michael5556 247
I always thought it was g60 final drive that was the more suitable one.
VR6Pete 1,455
You need a 3.68 final drive from a g60. 16v is to short..You also need ARP bolts to replace the factory fitted rivets. Just about to do mine at the mo
oldmandon 1
Saying that though when I think about it, someone also mentioned the final drive out of the 1.9TDi. But I was going to use the G60 when I get round to doing it!!!!
craggsy 91
Right im on laptop now so here goes.3.64 FD is from a CDM corrado VR6 box3.68 FD is from a CDA golf gti 16v3.68 FD is from AYL/AYK Corrado G60 and Passat 16v.just for some ideas

VR6Pete 1,455
Don't forget if it's a daily you will use more fuel!
michael5556 247
I think your talking about the diesel 5th gear to knock 1000 rpm off cruising speed.
craggsy 91
Which TDI tho Don as the 6 speed TDI boxes have 2 FDs
oldmandon 1
Could well be. I know there have been a few post regarding changing final drives for 1 reason or another..

Apparently you need the shaft which has the 4 bolts coming from it too. Don't know if they are the same for all boxes that have the 3.68 in them?I'm sticking to what I know. Box is going to stealth in the next few weeks to be built up

craggsy 91
Could well be Pete, I just have a list of gear ratios and FDs for 1 or 2 VW boxes lol
oldmandon 1
So I'm now guessing that the passat 16v gearbox is also ok to use for the final drive, and seeing as they will probably be more common than the corrado G60, it should also be cheaper??!!!.. Off to ebay I go!!
craggsy 91
I would speak to someone who deffo knows what you need. As Pete says. The FDs may be same ration but may be slightly different, tho if its same code on box it should work
oldmandon 1
No Passat gearboxes with the codes you've mentioned on ebay!!!!!!!!!! That sucks!!!

VR6Pete 1,455
I'm just about replace my corrado box with a 3.68FD box.
vdubtomo 0
how did you find the corrado box?im looking for something that's not too bad on fuel but has a better response than the standard box!
VR6Pete 1,455
pretty sure there is no difference in the corrado box and the golf in the UK...think it was only in counteries where they had to be more restrictive due to emissions they had a tweaked gearbox.
