acf8181 0
this is a fu**in joke. have 6 years ncd, no claims, no points, 24yr old, vr6.... last year paid £550FC, renewal comes through as £650ish. changed the mileage limit down to 5k (i dont do many) and it goes up to £690. its doing my head in, i feel i shoudl at least get a reasonable drop as it fairly obvious i aint that much of a risk. this is elephant by the way. admiral have given me quotes in the high £400 range...and they're the same bloody company! every else wants £1k....i paid that two years ago on the vr.i did phone sky, who were very professional, but were quoting £1k. acf8181 0
HIC are £750....they do have good cover tho (trackday, free mods, drive other cars, etc)have just got a new quote at £430 from admiral (same details as the £460 quote they did!)...prob is i am planning on gettin an mr2 very soon. the premium is identical pretty much, but i'm scared that if i renew on the vr, then go to swap it to the '2' they will bump it up.think i need rid of the vr right now. stu h 0
cant you just get a quote for the mr2 at the same time and see if they want more for it.I've done that in the past when renewing and planning to change car. Ask them to quote your current car and tell them your thinking of getting something else in the near future and get a quote for that too
acf8181 0
yeah, i've done an online quote for the '2' and its almost identical...however, i had a prob with their site earlier in the week (i tried to select guarateed ncd which i cant get and it froze) and when i e-mailed them to retrieve the quote they came back saying it was now £680! (it had been £440 with prtected ncd a second before it froze). so i'm worried that if i went to swap the policy from the vr to it (which you have to phone up to do) they'd want a premium based on £680. see what i mean? binliner 0
just dont ever make a claim... my renewal from HIC has more than doubled!
stu h 0
doin online quoetes is ok to a point -to get an idea but I'd rather ring them up and talk to a human.I see what you mean tho!£440 is a very good price if you can get it for that
jonvr6highline 0
changed the mileage limit down to 5k (i dont do many) and it goes up to £690. Funny, I'm with Elephant and I changed my mileage from 7,000 per year to 5,000. It went down £10, so now my insurance is £395 and the car is valued at £8,000. 8)

six appeal 53
Try Adrian Flux Andy, never been any good before for me but this year they beat Greenlight hands down and very good with modded VR's.
VR6Rich 3
Justin : Im with HIC and and I claimed a while back for about £3000 damage, but my premium hasnt really gone up much in comparison. Thought when my renewal came through in Feb they were quoting me £720 which was £60 more than previous year. Got them to reduce the mileage from 20k+ to 12k and played them off with Sky insurance and I managed to get them down to £520. 8-)
acf8181 0
i blame my mate...he's spent £30k of elephants cash this year on claims (crashed an s3, repaired it, then wrote it off)! lol
Al J 0
I changed to Egg insurance this year. They beat elephant by £150. They also offer interest free credit if you buy the insurance on your egg card and will also give you a £30 discount.I'm 23, 4yrs ncb and the premium was £610 fully comp.It may be worth a look if you have an egg card
