My GTi engineering VR6 - Tarmac rally style

Recommended Posts

I've just thrown this together for a local forum from a years worth of thread on edition, so I apologise at how rushed it is haha!

Last thing people may remember was mk2 on 17" LMs. Since then, I've had an e30, a mk3 with a hole in the gearbox, a mk3 VR, a Saxo vtr, and now I'm back in a VR, but its a bit special...

This is it currently.

Me and Orrin picked it up from a well random farm in darwen, after spotting it on pistonheads.

It's a mk3 vr6, that was built by gti engineering before registered, so came from the factory with 270 cams, a fancy map, and fancy intake.

It'd also had a 6 branch, a 2 box power flow system, BMc cda intake, and a map to suit it with a decat! Although it had a cat in at this point. Also some horrible wolf race wheels, colour concept seats, and weitec shocks and springs, and eibach arbs.

I was chuffed!

First thing I did was sorted lighting to something a little less... 2005

I was getting water in somewhere, wet carpets etc... Turned out I had a stream running from the rear lights to the foot wells :-/

Stripped everything out to dry it, drove to edition like this, and my ears bled :(

Then I shortened my gear stick!

Then I bought a knew knob. I realise it says nismo, but it was the perfect shape, material, and colour, so I had to have it.

Bought this

Rolling roaded it

Got this, and was extremely disappointed by the figure considering what's in the engine, and what it's scalped over the year I've owned it.

Fuelling was fine too. Only thing I can think is that it's skipped a notch on the timing chain!

Thanks gethin! It's got a new maf in already, and I've got a lamda sat here to go in. Fingers crossed with that and a basic settings reset on vagcom, it should be better.

It's going in for timing chains, LSD, clutch and long fifth next week!
