Caddyslammed 16
I have done a few searches to no avail, does anyone know the OE battery specs?, CCA and Ah etc, and/or even the make and model of one of the OE fitted batteries at anytime during the VR production years?.Thankyou

Lukey. 381
What are you looking for? To get an exactly original battery or to get a suitable one for your car now?
Caddyslammed 16
If they still make the VR6 OE battery, bosch or whatever then yes i'd choose to fit that, suitble replacements are readilt available otherwise .
Lukey. 381
The original battery on mine that had a manufacture date similar to my car was a Banner starting bull, which are an OEM VW supplier, which you can still get in a 510 or 640CCA and 70Ah capacity, or a new alternative is Bosch S5005 610CCA 63Ah capacity. Caddyslammed 16
It did have a Bosch S4 on it, looks like new, but it's shafted due to being too flat for too long in the cold, i googled what to get and the S5 seemed to be the one cheers.
Lukey. 381
What killed mine was that some numnutz before I bought it replaced the alternator with a 70a one when it should have had a 120a, so the battery never got a really good charge, went through another Bosch battery after the Banner before I realised what was happening lol
Caddyslammed 16
Which models had a 70a alternator fitted then? non ac or something, mine has a 70a on it. My battery died because of just literally lack of use and getting too cold for like 8 months, if i had taken the battery off of the car when i laid it up, and given it a trickle i'm sure it would still be fine!. Lukey. 381
Not sure but I gave TPS my chassis no and it came back as it should have been 120a, since fitting the correct one I've checked many, many times with the multimeter and haven't had an insufficient charge problem since.
