24v Turbo advice

Recommended Posts

These guys have the same turbo manufacturer as I do but there are a huge range of options we have and they use their own housings by the look of it (I can get 31 variations of KO3 and KO4 turbo compressor including billet but I need to spend about £10k minimum on turbo's - using the demo turbo's at the mo, sorry and my orders are different to theirs so can't really comment on them).

I only use Garrett CHRA and I use a local company to balance the assembled unit just in case (might want to look at Lund rotor stability to see why), but the parts should be balanced in the manufacturing stages too (might want to ask Snail this if you choose that one or the turbo will eat itself if not careful!).

So £1000 + above taxes if hit (about £1300 all in then) is pretty good or a 750hp rated turbo with billet extended tip design! If you're going the cheap billet journal bearing Precision turbo route (use Rossport in the UK if you do go that route, hit and miss if you have to pay the 20%VAT and 5% duty taxes if you import parts directly from the US).

Prices for VR6 tuning in the UK are, quite frankly, ridiculous. . If you want to get a group buy together then I can sort out some forged rods (will need 8 minimum). I can get I, H or X beam in 4340 forged steel, very good quality control (full ISO). Prices are roughly £225/260/300 for a set of 6 but ARP bolts will be extra. (They are also the same manufacturer as many branded rods you can get but pay £400-500 for, hence why I think people are silly for paying the prices that are advertised here).

Thanks for the info! I dont really have much knowlege of turbo's to be honest as all my cars have been n/a so i am relying on everybody elses knowledge. Unfortunately I dont have the money I would like to be able to spend so I do need to be careful with what im spending so I will be looking at budget options but not cheap crap!!

Sounds like your going to be doing the conversion yourself, so you need to budget for a second car as yours will be off the road for a period of time.

You may want to SORN your mota and save on the TAX disc.

Good luck on your build and it seems there are quite a few knowledgeable peeps on here to help you out.

Steve
