WaynesVR6 2
What do we think of this?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagon-VR6-Gas-Flowed-Cylinder-head-/280489417142?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item414e78d9b6I know that flow has always been a problem for these heads but 250bhp was a ceiling I wonder what na this would produce now? Daverse 175
i did briefly consider doing that. but i mean briefly as a fleeting wish of my imagination. So not a chance, basically.
craggsy 91
It is a cnc head so is. Made from a single block of ally
UnitedMotorsport 55
Its a VW casting re-profiled using a CNC technique.
michael5556 247
I live 10 minutes away from them. I have seen some of their work and it's epic. But that price is stupid.
WaynesVR6 2
So are we saying that they have redesigned the 12v head so it flows better? If so I wonder what na power is likely, due to me having a automatic this is actually a good idea although that price is very steep.
Daverse 175
yeah basically the air can get in and out faster. If you do the usual, air intake, bigger exhaust, cams e.tc this and forged bottom end are one of the few next on the list. or just turbo it!
michael5556 247
But if you turbo'd with that head I bet it would be unbelievable..
VR6Pete 1,455
I'd love to see some real results with this on N/A engine and a turbo / supercharged engine and see how it translates to ££/BHP
Woodyman84 3
its £600 cheaper if you exchange heads
VR6Pete 1,455
That makes it better....I bought a schrick BVH years ago, and that was about 1k back then! great bit of kit mind!

WaynesVR6 2
I spoke to them the other day and they said its £1200 for them to take your head and do the work to it. They also redo the seats but thats £10 extra per seat. Apparantly it wont help you make more power but it will bring peak power lower down the range so it will fell quicker.I am wondering if I did this and a big valve head at the same time how much of an increase would there be , and how much with all the other mods, shrick vsi etc. Could 230 to 250 be achievable on a stock bottom end? If so what would you get with a 3.0l bottom end or even a 3.2? My goal would be 250 and I think in na form that would make one quick car, very drivable too.
FishWick 21
Guys, you do realise that's an R32 head don't you? :-) The advert is confusing as it mentions VR6 and the pictures are of a 16V head! For what it's worth, a few guys using this head on R32s with cams, zorsts and intakes etc are seeing around 310hp, which isn't too shabby. Not a cheap way to gain 60hp though. As for the 12V head, yep, big valves make a worthy difference. VR6Pete 1,455
I loved my schrick big valve head, made a big difference when I bored by block to a 2.9 ! 220BHP, and was still running stock cams!
Woodyman84 3
i have a spare stripped head sitting in my garage lol
WaynesVR6 2
I spoke with TSR today and they want £1500 for a big vavle head, but they also said that with all the right mods i.e 3.0 litre bottom end or higher etc he has seen 300bhp na. That would be impressive. And very expensive. The acceleration would be savage. Imagine turboing it then!!
V6RUL 1
I have a CNC head, hand finished,on my setup with fast road cams.It is expensive but does help de-bottleneck the flowing issue. With the boltons I've got it's hard to determine the individual benefit. My rev limiter has been upped from 6750 to 7200 but would be ok to go to 8000 for short periods, however, I'm not prepared to tempt fate and dance with the devil just yet..CNCHeads is a division of Ric Woods Engineering in Manchester.Steve
