Just noticed wot looks like oili in water bottle!

The dipstick is clean oil, no cream.

The oil cap has a slight white on it, i think this is condensation.

Car isnt used much.

Car dosnt overheat and works fine.

Is it head gasket or oil cooler?

How do i check?

Thanks.

Any oil in the water is normally one of 2 things.

- Head Gasket

- Oil Cooler

I would take it to a garage who has a sniffer to test if there's exhaust gasses in the water reservoir. This still might not clarify though so best get it checked out before it gets worse and blocks up the radiator, heater matrix, thermostat etc

Looks like theres a dash of oil in the bottle.

Oil on the surface.

Hope its the cooler.

Iam off monday so ill bob it to a local engine spec.

If its the hg then ill be swopin the engine.

Anyone got a good obd2 lump for sale?

Not having any luck with cars, my other car (clio 172) blew its gear box on thursday!

Surely it would be better to do the head gasket mate? Who's to say it won't blow on a new engine in a months time?

It's a fairly straight forward job to do the head gasket and then you have peice of mind as opposed a bunch of unknowns from a replacement engine.

Problem is cost, head gasket aint cheap.

I think its the cooler.

Did the gasket on it a few weeks ago.

Noticed water then.

But ignored it (dumb).

There fairly cheap as well so its worth ago.

If it was the head the oil goes caramel color, and i havent found any signs of that.

Worth a try.

Thinkin back when i removed the cooler, there was water.

I called my mech mate who told me there wasnt supposed to be water, the wter stays in the pipes well away from the oil.

So mayb the cooler is cracked inside, fingers crossed.

Where is TONYVRT?

Fitted oil cooler today. Mare!

Crack pipe snapped, fo flips sake.

Tps want 100 quid, and no stock.

Ended up drivin 20mile to a breakers paid 20 for crack pipe.

Took a total of 4 hours to change cooler and crack pipe, not a happy bunny.

But good news is iam 99% it was the cooler leakin.
