mushtech 0
I have started my golf up the other day after i had done my clutch and thermostat. i have noticed a tapping noise coming from the engine but normally on everyother vw i have had they do it when cold ie tappets. But mine is not that noticable when cold, its when it gets warm it gets worse and its coming from the drivers side of the engine not the passenger side. Anybody got the same issue or had the same issue ? its just had a service a month ago so cant see it being the oil as its still golden.
Daverse 175
listen to the belt tensioner bearing, could be that?
Woodyman84 3
Mine sounds tappy but from the driver side, but everyone who ever listened to it just said it was nothing serious lol
VR6Pete 1,455
Do you have alloy or plastic cam cover? The plastic ones do dampen the noise down over the metal cover that amplifies any noise!Could be a sticking hydraulic lifter?
Lukey. 381
If you think it's a lifter you can free it up by placing something softer like wood on it then hit it with a hammer.
mushtech 0
i believe its alloy but it does look like plastic i will double check tomorrow. its not the tensioner bearing its def head related checked this morn. how hard is it to remove cams on these engines first time i have worked on a vr6 engine. rather than hit them with a hammer i will just buy new ones.
