external oil cooler??

Just out of interested I was search in through some VTEC related forums forvavfriend, and I come across a thread about running temps and oil temps and water temp

Now my question is, what would benefit the daily running of my car better, a external oil cooler or a lower temp rated thermostat

No, if you are using the car daily just use the standard thermostat and cooler, if you "uprate" them in this scenario all you'll do is make the engine take ages to get up to normal operating temperature and increase fuel / oil consumption.

They are only really necessary if you're tracking it regularly and are seeing temps over about 114 every time.

A healthy coolant system and oil cooler should be just fine on a daily mate.

what temps are you currently getting for oil / water?

Mine sits just below the centre on the water and the oil tends to get a bit hotter on a run 95° I think but round town 88 - 90 I think.

Bst would be a thermostatically controlled external oil cooler but that temp oil is nothing to worry about mine hits 117 quite a bit.

Yea I think that's wat they are:-) I was quite lucky when I got my car the previous owner rebuilt the head and fitted new timing chains and a clutch 20k before I bought it
