Rhian has got her mits on some 997 calipers and we intend to fit them to the charged VR (also doing a few other bits to her before Inters :-) ) has anyone gone for this setup? What discs can you use? Will an 18" rim be suitable to house these lovely beasts?

Not sure which 997 calipers you have but in terms of Porsche calipers what fits are the Boxster, Boxster S/Carrera 2/4 non turbo and Cayenne 17 L/RZ will fit behind 17's. you can run either 312 or 323 mm discs with the Boxster and Carrera ones but will need 332mm R32 discs for the Cayenne ones. After that you can run 996 turbo or Cayenne 18 L/RZ but you will need 18" wheels which are too big for a mk3 unless they're about 7" wide max and make the car pretty crap to drive.

I have Carrera 2 non turbo calipers with LCR 323mm discs on mine, have removed the abs and controlling bias with an inline manual bias valve. The brakes are not good however.... still have to resolve the issue. I'm upgrading the master cylinder to a 25.4mm one from a T5 Transporter to see if it helps, if not it may be a faulty servo.
