Head Skimming

I'm going to replace the head gasket on my Vr and am thinking about getting the head skimmed, possibly skimmed a lot to raise the compression.

Anyone done this before and gained a little extra power, if so how much did you take off?

Not so much a skim but shave a lot off, can it not work like that,

I.e lower compression add a spacer plate, raise it take a chunk off.

Proper redneck tuning lol were talking 1 or 2 hp here btw, just finding each and every one that's hidden

You can fit the metal headgasket to raise it half a point but you have to be sure both surfaces are uber flat and parallel or it won't make a good seal.
