djmac 1
Hi all, New to the vr6 scene and heard they run very hot most of the time! But i wasnt sure if that was too hot, 98oC! I know it is warm in the UK atm, but is that correct? The fans do come on, but sound abit iffy so wondering weather i just need some new fans?Cheers Dan

djmac 1
Ive never flushed the system yet! Havnt had the car that long, guessin it would be a good place to start?I also tested the fans and only seems to work at 1 speed? not a slow and a fast?
Lukey. 381
You can bridge the fan speed controller to check operation for for the life of me I can't find it from my phone.
djmac 1
ive done the bridging and have found only 1 that works?
VIW28 29
I would presume you are referring to oil temperature here? If so 98 is acceptable, especially in the current hot climate. Unless you have had the car on Vagcom at the time it would be hard to gauge the coolant temperature at exactly 98 degrees. To test fans you need to bridge from the middle pin on the fan switch plug. Pin 2 is your feed with pin 1 & 3 the low and high speed respectively. If you're in doubt check with multimeter. If only one fan is working the little drive belt between the fans is maybe missing or broken.
roosevelt1st 1
oil @ 98 degrees is ok if been tanking it, mine's more like 88/90 as per other on here - in normal use
