all us stock/mildly tuned peeps tend to come out on top with a burn with other motors.don't get me wrong you know what to leave alone or sufffer being embarassed?i would be interested to know what level a charged vr is at before signing up for the group buy.somesay they are the muts nuts when the s/c units are for sale as a bolt on unit, but nobody has posted any firsthand experiences of daily driver/ass kicking tool?

porche cayanne is also prolly an auto, SHIT loads of porche engine under the hood, HUGE breaks, MASSIVE amounts of torque (AND ITS 4WD with launch control so it will go faster than a nasa rocket of the pad) - its gotta have huge amounts of torque its a MASSIVE car, never EVER try to race a cayenne turbo, its like racing a non aspirated porche road car....(i.e 911t)...The topgear review on tele shouldve given you a heads up.

rule of thumb, anything that looks expensive (be glad your £5000 car can actually give a modest run for its money, compared with something that is almost new and costs upwards of £70K), big, black and says turbo on it..stay away. becuase its going to be vr meat :(.

:D

Six Appeal' date=' how do you get 205BHP from a vr6? Chip, induction, full ss exhaust (cat bipass?)...info on yer car would be great..

[/quote']

Nerih, I'm running similar figures to six appeal, 210BHP 205lb ft - It's called spending a over a grand on a schrick inlet manifold, DasTek ECU, BMC CDA and looking after my engine.

at the end of the day, it depends how healthy your engine is.

Hmmm....recommend you PM Anorak as he is the proud new owner of my S/c Golf - I'll let him tell you!

Mina

So far just a Boxster (standard one I think - not the 'S')

But then I wasn't really trying and left it in 4th gear from 40mph.

I could get used to this ;)

i was under the impression that the normal boxters was more like 180bhp...and prey for a standard vr6.

put it this way, i was giving it some against one on the motorway a while back, and it wasn't pulling away in fcat i was gaining...obviously its impossible to know how much they're going for it...but it certainly looked like it was flat out.

Lowest boxster has about 200bhp' date=' and the tiptronic is about the same 0-60 as a manual Vr.

[/quote']

that'd be the one i had fun with then.

Highest spec has about 270bhp and about 5.5 0-60

that'd be the 'S' i guess?

Cayenne turbo has 450bhp and also about 5.5 0-60

who cares, its an ugly bus! lol

Just joined so a bit late on this thread, my VR6 is std at present but 180bhp Audi TT's are fun to beat, likewise the lesser boxsters. I worked for a guy who got one when first released, very embarassed that my "tired old golf" fully whipped it up the dual carriageway :)

I also drive a VR6 killer... Its THE shi**y-est brown ugliest fibreglass piece of 70's crap you ever saw - a Reliant Scimitar... BUT... It has a 4.6 litre V8 turning out about 280 bhp and torque from idle to the rev limit. It hasn't been beaten by an Evo, Impreza or anything like that yet since even a 350bhp turbo engine only makes that power for a short time before a gear change is required, the V8 just pulls and pulls. Much like the difference between a 170bhp vr6 and 180bhp turbo. More to it than peak power numbers

Its a laugh a minute - looks horrific, very rough paintwork and fast as hell. Still not fast enough though :(

The VR6 is up for attention now though, getting the susp sorted first, followed by some engine tlc and then maybe the usual supects, manifolds, cams, supercharger?

Cheers, Sam

Yeah, the wet weather disadvantages the shitimar / chocolate log / whatever else its been called . . . a lot . . . the golfs a far better all rounder, but then I guess you'd expect that.

Collecting a full koni / eibach kit later this evening - looking forward to an improvement from it (for the golf!)...
