Obd2 Vr6 Power steering pump and fluid - which ones

Hi , well when i was changing my oil yesterday i noticed that the bearing on the power steering pump was a bit noisy , so looks like i have to change it

which make is the best one to replace it with? and what fluid do you guys use? its the 1 thing i have not done , found a guide and it looks pretty easy to do just need to get the parts now

I think like most of the vag range, you'll want to use CHF rather than PAS fluid.

As long as its the green stuff it doesn't matter, I bought a litre from VW a couple of years ago for about £6.

CHF11 if I recall correctly. It's about £12 a litre now.

cool thanks guys , looking at about 100 for part and about 20 quid for fluid , doesnt look to hard to do just need the weather to do it

There should be a black resovior next to the battery bud.

it might help to pour a little bit in the pump. when I done mine the pump was bone dry, when I started the engine the pump got really hot to the point where it was boiling the fluid as It finally reached the pump. after that I would always put a drop of oil in it before filling the reservoir.

I'm sure you can turn the steering lock to lock aswell to get some fluid through the system

Or thinking about it you could just remove the aux belt and turn the pump by hand
