Well I got the buggy all up and running ready to go so thought I would take it up to crail to see what it could do. Heres a picture of it on the trailer ready to go The panels are made out of 0.9mm

Errr, there's other websites available for stuff like that Dave! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got the injectors this morning so hopefully get them fitted on sunday and see how it runs. Then try and sort something out with the gear linkage still dont know what I'm gonna do with it but lol

Well I have been doing a bit of work on this lately by stripping it for paint ect. I'm trying to get it ready for summer so I can use it as much as possible.

So I started stripping everything out it like the seat, steering wheel, all the wiring and electrics,

Then off came the radiator and exhaust manifold,

Then out came the engine and gearbox,

Engine needs stripped down and cleaned, painted and parts sent off for powder coating,

And saved the best for last, Nitrous bottle to be mounted on a brace above the engine,

I will update with pics once the chassis is all painted :)

Looks awesome what times did you get on the strip? And any idea on the weight?

I'm taking my Mk1 Golf vr6 drag racing 22nd of march it's 900kg just wondering what times i mite get!

My fastest time was 13.7 but I was getting a lot of wheelspin and the gear linkage mechanism that I made wasnt very good so I couldnt change gears very quick. That will all be sorted for this year so I'm hopeing to get into the 12s maybe even slightly less. I'm not sure on the weight I can only guess at a couple of hundred kgs but before the summer I am getting it weighed and rolling roaded so I know the exact power to weight :)

The cables are the standard ones out my mk3 golf but I had to mess about reversing the mechanism in the shifter so the cables came out the other way. It was ok for testing but it doesnt really feel right and is a nightmare to select gears with. I'm getting a new set of custom cables made so that they are long enough to just use a standard shifter box and loop round the engine if you get what I mean. The company doing the custom cables is CableTec if your needing a set made mate

So this is well overdue for an update, everyone probably thinks I've gave up on it but theres no way that would happen :)

Anyway heres the story so far,

The whole buggy got stripped to its naked bare chassis which took a good few weeks. Then on a nice sunny day I brought it out onto the drive and it got painted in 2 coats of smooth black hammerite

After that I stripped down the gearbox and welded the diff solid as its better than £700 for an lsd since its a dedicated drag car

I wanted to fit the golf alloys on the front but the hubs were 4 stud so I welded up the bolt holes, drilled and re-tapped them for the 5 stud bolt pattern. Had to drill the brake disks aswell but wasnt to much of a problem.

I decided that I would make it a 2 seater as its more fun if you can terrify a few passengers now and again so after hunting everywhere I finally managed to find kit car seats that were small enough and would fit without widening the chassis.

Anyway heres how it stands today.

Still needs the engine put back in, Panels replaced with aluminium, nitrous fitted then setup on the rolling road ect.

Comments welcome :)

Awesome pal. It's gonna need a name when it's all complete...... "THE VR6OC ROCKET" I think the club should donate some stickers for it. Haha.

I did get some stickers when I first joined the club a few years ago but they were on my donor car for this which is crushed now :( if there was any lying spare that could get sent out I would happily put them on it, would be good advertising for the club :P lol
