k3v81 0
Hi guys really need a bit of help. i took off the expansion tank cap to top it up and water poured out of the overflow (it was still a bit warm). so i tightened the cap back up and drove home. I then went out a hour later and the water light came on so i topped it up and went for a drive got it up to temp. Got home and left it running. Then the coolant started coming out of the over again. I also noticed that the fan didnt run after i switched the engine off. I just wish i hadnt of touched of it lolI only had it a week
Lukey. 381
Have you tried just undoing the epxansion cap, after its cool enough, then doing it back up tight after its properly cold to equalise the pressure in and out, then see if it blows out again. If so the first, easiest and cheapest thing would be to get a new cap.
k3v81 0
I spoke to midland vw and he said to change the cap and thermostat as the fan has stopped running. So hopefully that should sort it.

k3v81 0
Ok thanks for advice. What does that do
Lukey. 381
The yellow one is the temp for the gauge in the clocks, the blue one is for the ecu temp readings and if you have air com the brown one controls the fan stages for that. You might as well if you're gonna open the t-stat housing anyway.

k3v81 0
The yellow does sound like part of the problem. I changed the fuse under the expansion tank and when i turned the key on i could hear the kind of buzzing noise from the pump but not heard it since. I changed the thermostat today im just a little worried that i got the housing seal right as it was a nightmare to keep in place. Got a new cap and when i compared them the old one had well and truley gone.I got rid of my discovery because i was sick of fixing the bloody thing lol.
