The Duke 27
I've reading about this as it's something I want to do to mine but have just read that V5 box fits http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?216933-What-gearbox-will-fit-Vr6-motor I'm wondering if it'll be better to do this? sparkyyyy 1
That seems a decent plan! Would 3.94 final drive be any good?
Vince12v 20
I was told that the 3.9fd is no gd for road use, gears much to shortSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ickyketseddie 89
Sounds lively, except 1st and second I guess would be too short?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
sparkyyyy 1
You'd think the v5 box coming from a car with a similar bhp out put would have better ratios than that? Are the vr6 and v5 that vastly different peromance wise? The Duke

Lukey. 381
This is with stock wheels and wrung out to 6.5k The Duke
sparkyyyy 1
Those seem reasonable length ratios 55 in second is annoying will mean losing revs changing to 3rd to get up to 60 quick unless you thrap the nuts off it and try keep it in the power band

Lukey. 381
I found it on the internet years ago its a spreadsheet, I've input the stock ratios into it for vr6 but you'll have to edit for your wheels, I run 17s.stock vr6 gearspeeds.xls.zip Edited November 8, 2013 by Lukey. dox 3
MK4 would have a 195 65 15 tyre, compared to a 205 50 15 for a MK3 / Corrado, so driving a MK4 wont give same revs at the given speed as your own car. V5 box is well rated by some track day folk. I have an EJS box, 10V V5 with no shift tower for £
sparkyyyy 1
Had a quick play in a v5 earlier the action through the box is so much better gives you a much more precise feel

Vince12v 20
How does the wheel diameter of a 17" wheel change the speed, if the over all diameter is the same as a 15" wheel205 40 17 = 23205 50 15 = 23Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lukey. 381
Dunno about the mk4 24v but I would say they are a bit shorter from how they drive, obviously balanced out by the 6th gear at the top Edited November 8, 2013 by Lukey.
