stevietots1 0
hi peeps, just went to fit my new alpine head unit/changer and i cant get the bloody old sony face off out, the bit that goes around the face normally comes off seperate from the stereo so u can get the keys/screwdriver down the side to release the main bit of the headunit but on this sony it all seems to be one bit. has any1 else changed a sony headunit before and gimme any ideas coz im sure the suround is meant to come off but i dont wanna break it coz its gonna be sold to a mate of mine !dodge
six appeal 53
Don't think the outer surround comes off on the Sony ones. Look at it closely and you'll see 2 small slots that you need to slide a thin bit of metal into to release the unit from the cage. Think one is to the side and the other near the top.[ Edited Sat Apr 30 2005, 04:35PM ]
apd 0
as six appeal says:slide some metal strips down each side of the head unit to release the catches.do one side and pull unit towards you,and then repeat until unit pulls out.the unit comes out with the black outer surround still attached.and if your changing old SONY for new its just plug and play. badboyV6 4
I find two halves of a junior hacksaw blade does the trick well..... Saves you buying a tool that youll only ever use once...[ Edited Sun May 01 2005, 11:19AM ]
dubloke 4
unless you change your car or stereo more than once, in which case you buy the pair of tools, like me! :-)
