Winter jobs.

I've took my VR off road for the winter. Only bought it in the summer and the and I keep finding problems with the conversion, nothing major just little shortcuts that im not happy with.

I'm in the process of taking out the aircon (not needed in a cabbie!) and tidying up the wiring in the engine bay. What are the head gaskets like? I'm changing the rocker gasket so am I worth while doing the head too? The engine sounds sweet and has been running fine temperature wise.

What's the mileage on the engine and do you have any history of any work carried out in the past?

Mileage is about 130,000 and no history of the engine. The lad I bought it from told me if was an OBD1 but infact is a OBD2.

If there aren't any leaks in the gasket then you could leave it and do the timing chain kit instead if you don't know if they've ever been done, especially as it could be at 130k on the originals.

That's a good idea actually especially with the mods I have planned. Whats the best chain kit? Or are they pretty much all good.

There are a few kits available from febi etc or there's the more expensive genuine. You get JWIS with genuine which are pretty much the best you can get.

Nice one. Cheers. Just ordered a full hose kit for it also. Looking at replacing the air intake too and also the manifold. I'll get it remapped before it goes back on road. I miss it already though lol. My 1.8 just isn't the same!!
