Boneybradley 2
Well I bought a VR6 yesterday and I have noticed a water drip from the engine back/bulkhead maybe? I am not familiar with the VR6 water system so I am wondering what's at the back of the engine that can leak? The inside is dry so I am guessing it's not matrix and all the pipes going to it seem dry. This is where the water comes onto the road and I can see it dripping of the car but can't get under as of yet to fully investigate any help welcomed
Daverse 175
Might be worth looking at the bay when the thermostats open so the pressure in the system is, then check for leaking. Could be a oin hole somewhere, might be worth looking at the hose going into the cylinder at the back right..or header tank..Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Vr6pates 2
+1 try the pipes by the header tank and check all hose connections aswell because after time they tend to leak have just done all mine
michael5556 247
Pipes going to the heater?
Boneybradley 2
I checked the pipes going to the heater and they seemed dry, the others I haven't so I'm hoping it's something as simple as that! I will update the thread with my findings! (here's hoping for an easy fix!)
Lukey. 381
I would basically check everything, not very helpful in narrowing it down but probably the best idea.
Boneybradley 2
Well we have not found where the leak is but I'm sure I saw a drip near the expansion bottle this morning but it didn't drip once warm and the water stayed on level. The only way I got the water to drop in the bottle was by driving it hard and the water certainly dropped a bit on the level once I got back but again there was no sign of dripping! I am going to replace the expansion bottle and bottom pipe to this as it seems rather flimsy. I will see and hope that cure's it? It's confused me and my mechanic! (but both parts are quite cheap as I'm a febi dealer so wont break the bank if that doesn't fix it) VR6Pete
Lukey. 381
Could be burning it then which could be headgasket
Daverse 175
A bit unlikely, but i dont suppose theres coolant running out between the head and block? Have you tried covering the car overnight to make sure its not just rain runningout of a blocked channel?Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Lukey. 381
I have those type of pools under every car I have and have ever owned just from the arches draining off

Boneybradley 2
Update for my VRIt was the matrix and had being bodged by someone using silicone sealant to stop it leaking! I also found out the airbag and abs system had also being bodged and it's needed both front abs sensors and the wiring to them fixed (the wires had being joined together so the light went out!) and the airbag needed a new slip ring (which had being glued, again to turn the light off!)
