zerocool 0
does anybody know if this is true?A corrado vr6 has better gear ratios than a golf vr6 and hence it is a good mod to put a corrado box into a golf vr6 to get better acceleration?
eViL 0
I have a corrado box and I'll be honest I don't see a lot of difference etween the two. Nothing noticeable anyway.
acf8181 0
apparantly the main difference is the final drive ratio...but it could still do with being shorter (i think). you need to speak to phatvr6 on the cgti forum, he's the vr6 gearbox expert (actually he's the vr6 expert full stop!).i know that the best thing to do is get a gemini 6 speed conversion, with custom ratio's (the 6th gear is the same as current 5th gear, then every other gear is closer, and has a different final drive) and add a torque biasing diff...it's available from stealth racing. but its about £1700!!if on a smaller budget, i think the best thing to do is change the fianl driver, and add the diff...still be at least £700 tho. mina 0
Like I always say - one of the most cost effective mods to a VR6 is to replace the 'box with a six speed. 3rd gear on a standard car is pants!
acf8181 0
yeah, 2nd to 3rd is a huge jump, then it seems that 3rd and 4th are considerably closer.
