paceo 22
been like it a while now since changing the heater matrix on the golf mk3 vr6, ive tried the method of leaving it running with the header tank cap off squeezing all the water pipes but the heaters dont blow really warm air, its coldish still!! pipes to the matrix is one is hot and the other is warm, is there any other way of bleeding it out fully? Lukey. 381
Sounds like an airlock, try pointing the car up a really steep hill maybe the air will flow out then as air will always want to rise Nex

paceo 22
Sounds like an airlock, try pointing the car up a really steep hill maybe the air will flow out then as air will always want to rise is there some sort of machine that can sort it out? was fine before the matrix change Edited January 20, 2014 by paceo
Lukey. 381
Mine had an air bubble in it for ages and you could hear it gurgling especially when the engine was off and the after run pump was on, then one day it managed to blurb itself out of the matrix an the noise disappeared. paceo 22
would the thermostat be an issue?
Therusterman 59
Is the thermostat new? In the past with other golfs, after driving the car/getting it hot I left the reservoir cap off overnight to allow any air in the system out.
daveyboy 897
I know what's wrong with mine. My head gasket is f#*ked. Looks like I've got a leak between a water jacket and a pot Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk

Therusterman 59
Hmmmm, there is a chance it could of failed and stuck shut, but in my mind that would be a long shot. Suppose you could whip out the thermostat, run the car up to temperature and see if it warms up properly?
Lukey. 381
put the thermostat in a pan with a thermometer and boil it, according to the internet it should open at 80C

VR6Pete 1,455
If you've had dash out - are your Bowden cables operating correctly? When I did my matrix the flaps / cables were not operating correctly which resulted in coolish air coming through. Club Chairman
