VR6Pete 1,455
Not all obd2's had a single chain, absolutely no real differences with the actual engine. It's things like MAF, manifold, throttle body, lambda, ECU that are the differentiating features between obd1 and obd2 Club Chairman
daveyboy 897
See mines on the change over the car is a 96 N. That's why I was askingSent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
Therusterman 59
Check out the engine number, anything up to number 176889 will have double chains, as has been said, some obd 2 cars could still have this Edited February 2, 2014 by Therusterman
VR6Pete 1,455
Ah, my 1997 was single top chain, only seemed the late late ones had single top chain Club Chairman
ssaunders 199
Hi I think it was engine number aaa217001 and up was single chain. It's best to use the later guide which I believe is compatible with earlier chains.S
Lukey. 381
217000 was the switch over for single chain, if you get the slider from VW yet will only sell you the latest version one.
daveyboy 897
Surely having 2 cam chains will be better than having 1. Less pressure on each chain than just having a single chainSent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
daveyboy 897
So what should I look for to know if it's a 1 or a 2 when it comes to maf and throttle body etc?Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
GordonC 20
You can tell by the throttle body mate obd1 has a square block on the top where the coolant pipes connect to, obd2 has a circle on the top above the coolant pipes. Heres a link with pictures of them http://www.vr6oc.com/forum/topic/7902-is-my-vr6-an-obd1-or-obd2/VR6 Loonibuggy Santa Pod 2014 !
