suffolkvr6 4
OK, so just picked up a 1995 "N" golf VR6, it has been garaged for 3/4 years, and it has failed on lights 001 Main Beam "tell tale" not working002/3 N/S & O/S front headlamps niot working on dipped004 Front Headlamp switch is faulty *Full beam is not staying on, only on flash So any suggestion to getting this sorted? I thought it may be light switch? How can I test the switch? Thanks
suffolkvr6 4
Ok so £tell tale" light on dash was a missing bulb ...sorted Question I is that the headlight switch works the side lights, but not dipped beam, the indicator stalk allows flashing of high beam but not always on, so would headlight switch fault cause main beams not to stay on? On the flip side would indicator/high beam stalk fault cause the dipped beam not to work?
Ickyketseddie 89
Hmmm faulty relay maybe? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Lukey. 381
I would try another headlight switch first, I you flash the fulls while the dip are off they only light as long as you are holding the stalk regardless of the click that you hear signifying fulls on/off
Jakeyb 23
tried removing the stalks for the sake of 5 mins and getting some contact cleaner out>?
Liam Potts 4
From memory the systems use the headlamp flasher/main stalk as relay pull plug off stalk switch lamps on and bridge the white with black trace to yellow(dipped beams should come on) then bridge same to white mains should illuminate if so then your stalk is faulty Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk VR6Pete
Ronan 0
I'm having the same issue - full beam (will stay on as well) and sidelights, but no dipped. Bought a headlight switch and not resolved the issue - will try the above fix later today
Ronan 0
OK so I just tried bridging those contacts with a bit of speaker wire and still nothing. What next?
Liam Potts 4
Have you got 12v to white and black trace when you switch lights on with ign on?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ronan 0
Yeah, I bridged it over from yellow - yellow = 12v?
