Yours looks good as it stands mate.

I need to learn how to use a machine polisher as the paint on mine is shocking. There's no rust at all but the paint is awful, looks like it's had a blow over at some point too.

Mulberry is by far the best colour we got in the uk, I wish we got Ginster yellow thou fans I love that colour!

Good call on leaving the ride height, i've put previous Golf's on coilover's and much prefer nowadays having comfort with a subtle drop. You using a DA or rotary polisher, also what product pad combo do you use?

I know VW's tend to have hard paint. I've got some Hex Logic pads and Meguiars m205 and m105 to try some correction on mine, but new to machine polishing myself so have lots yet to learn.

Rotary mate, scholl s17 with scholl spider pads. Yeah vw hard ish paint but the spider pad combo works well. It's all in the prep mind. Clay, tardis, polish, ipa, wax, seal. The mulberry should shine well with the richness of the colour. I have some menzerna polishes here aswell but the scholl is nicer to work with.

It does yeah but that has zero products, stripped bare with clay. It will look good when machined.

Thing is when the mrs sees me doing it she bugs me to do her mg zt 260!! That is a big beauty to paint correct!!

Little update,

Oil change done with genuine vw oil filter and 10w 40 oil, new air filter and 6 new ngk plugs. Whilst the manifold was off for refitting the new polished item i cleaned the throttle body out, not horrendous before but spanking now.

Got a bit giddy wth the dremel whilst touching the polish up on the manifold after fitting and polished anything metal i could find.

So, today i decided to crack on with the machine polish,  1 front wing and passenger door done, bearing in mind the prep work i did earlier on in the thread, this ment i could crack straight on with the rotary. Washed first and dried, then ive used a scholl concepts spider pad in spot size for the wings and doors, easier with a spot pad due to the contours, larger spider pad to be used on the rear quarter and roof/bonnet.

2 passes at 800 rpm to spread

4 passes at 1200 rpm

4 passes at 1500 rpm

then reversed back down to a final pass at 600 rpm. Did this in 18-20" sections at a time.......as you can see, pretty decent reflections, i need to do a final wipe with ipa to clear any polish residue then protect.

Started on the interior today, general clean up required so i started with the henry hoover, before moving onto wiping all the plastics down with a 1:5 apc and water

Used autoglym bumper dressing, and some srp on the interior shuts of the bootlid.

Hoovered all the spare wheel well out and protected it with some bilt hamber. Waiting for a nice couple of days on the bounce and ill be carpet washing. Also going to order some mulberry leather treatment to bring them up a little better.

Hi James, have you tried just a normal leather feed on the seats or is the raw leather shining through the colour and that's why you need the mulberry treatment? I've used the meguiars leather feed/cleaner and it brings the seats up to a nice matt finish and makes them nice and supple. It's really easy to use too. Also I've found Baby wipes are excellent for cleaning leather and are a good low cost cleaner.
