mark@vagworx 0
You can set them off going towards them, if you're going fast enough. The flash has to go off twice too......a single flash is 9 times out of 10 a camera with no film [ Edited Thu May 12 2005, 09:04PM ]
Eat this 2
it did flash twice
pete8tch 0
they cant get you head on the lines in the road are not in shot , plus bikes dont have no plates on the front
mark@vagworx 0
was the camera on your side of the road facing you?
Eat this 2
no opposite i was on the correct side of the road which is 4 lanes at that point (goin from fessy park to cobridge lights for the stokies here) i was in the right hand lane on my side overtakin a car on the left as i was turnin left at the lights and dont like cuttin ppl up

Seademon 0
Nah I've been flashed in the same situation a couple of times and never had a ticket
badboyV6 4
I was under the impression (my company makes the feckin things lol) that gatso's can only take photos as a car goes past it so it takes the photo from behind.Truvelos however take the photo from the front- these are strange looking circular cameras with a circlular lens and a semi circle lens around it- these take a photo head AND a photo of you! so no denying you were driving the car!! Theres also a ne device coming out some time in summer (they are already on trial) called speed on green. Basically if you go to fast on a box junction (say to beat the lights) bang you get a ticket!!!! F@@ckers![ Edited Thu May 12 2005, 10:11PM ]
stu h 0
thats pure bloody evil!!!!
pete8tch 0
no they cant do you head on they need the white lines on the road to corroborate the speed they need it in case of more than 1 car the distance between the lines will show which vehicle was speeding . thats what top gear were doing with the tvr , it was outside the lines on the second shot
binliner 0
I thought the camera ddnt even go off with the TVR?
Eat this 2
it didnt i remember it was doin 175 mph!!! and it didnt go off
stu h 0
the cameras around my way in certain places have lines on both side but cameras on one, thats where i saw someone get flashed head on
pete8tch 0
probably not but the principle is the same on the slower cars they said that the car was still in shot for the second flash, they need the corroboration of the lines which is why they are redundant on 1 side ,they just swop the camera from 1 side to the other which they wouldnt have to do if theey could get u head on
pete8tch 0
mind u thats because they are tax collecting evil theiving rip off bastards and this amounts to legal highway robbery at least dick turpin gave you a choice!!!
cliveyp 0
I've never had a ticket from going the opposite way and theres one locally that a mate regularly passes at over 50mph......
TVR6 0
Guys, no, Gatso's cannot get you head on, fact. At least not yet but they are capable. The reason they don't is that the flash could potentially distract you and cause an accident which is where the Truvello comes in. No flash required and works in a similar way to the laser that the Cops point at you head on. You can set a Gatso off by going fast enough in the opposite direction and you may have noticed the camera you passed flashing when you're doing the legal speed, chances are someone was speeding in the opposite direction (head on). 'Specs', currently being trialed is the one to beware of, I beleive it can catch you from up to a mile away by calculating your speed from one point to another and automatically issues you with a ticket or a summons! New Road safety bill currently going through parliament means less points for minor speeding offenses ie 2 as opposed to 3 but possible custodial sentences for excessive speeders. I was caught doing 105 in a 50 (empty dual carriage way last year, tailed by an unmarked car) reduced to 95mph and summons to court. Took representation with me and got 6 points,
antera309 3
GATSOs cannot photograph you head on, but TRVELOS can.The two types of camera look totally different:GATSO:TRUVELO:If a GATSO does flash you head on, they cannot prosecute 'cos you could counter-argue that the flash blinded you. TRUVELO has a near-infra-red, almost invisible flash, so these do not have the same problem.
