Stephano 11
I`ll try and make sure that this thread makes sense at the start! I`m going to copy my build form our local forum. Hopefully it still makes sense. Rewind to March 23rd 2009.... After a 9 month search for my perfect Vento Vr6 I found the one! My brother and I travelled 250 by train to have a look at a dragon green Vento Vr6, I had several phone calls with the owner and he had e-mailed me lots of photos of the car. I had pretty much bought it over the phone because there was a lot of interest in the car. The Vento had 41,000 miles and he was the 3rd owner (vw demo plus 2) It was expensive but it was described as mint condition... The start of my thread.... Following the arrival of Miss MillieAnd (just before) the departure of my LupoI bought an R reg dragon green Vento Vr6, it had 41000 miles and two owners fae new It was totaly bog standard apart from a stainless steel Jetex exhaust.(The day I bought it after its 250 mile journey home) Edited February 27, 2014 by Stephano
Stephano 11
It was described as "mint condition" in the owners eyes, However it turned out to be just a tidy car in my eyes there was quite a few minor scratches 2 shopping dents on the passenger side 3 wee dents on the rear bumper and a rusty stonechip at the back wheelarch Not quite mint!Had planned to get the rusty bit and the back bumper repaired and painted, coilovers +the Porsche teledials on it as soon as the Lupo sold.I set about the scratches in the meantime with the buff +vavious grades of polish+wet+dry and I was happyish with the paintwork, no pics of said happyness cos I was also getting the Lupo ready for Ultimate Dubs.Long story short Darren took the Lupo to UD +after the show Louise,Millie+myself went to visit Louise`s mum in the bottom of England and on a day out to Canterbury the drivers door+wing got keyed New plans were to get the side + bumpers painted but I`d not be replacing the armour door plates and that meant taking them off the otherside and being fussy ended up talking myself into a full respray.Colour changes were thought about +eventually dismissed because I didn`t want to take the engine out to paint the bay and put the standard engine back in. Stephano 11
Fast forward to June 2009...I sold my multi award winning Lupo Gti and the new owner wanted the Oem wheels so I kept the 16" polished Porsche Teledials I had on it.. I had some photyshops done to see if I`d like the Teledials on it and decided I did. So with a bit of help the coilovers went on + with 30mm adaptors the wheels went on too. Some pics with the wheels and the coilovers on it at Biggar (local Scottish show)And on the way homeI`ve since lowered the back a bit more and it looks better Edited February 27, 2014 by Stephano
Stephano 11
Some wheel test fitting pics Vr6 allroad :thumbdown:I was a bit worried at this stage about the tyre looking to small but when it was lowered it was fine  The Vento was booked into the body shop the week after the show in the previous post...I had been been in and discussed my plans with the guys and it was agreed that I could assist them with the teardown and come in + take pictures... I was in the bodyshop yesterday and again no camera but the rear archs have been rolled all the body work has been rubbed down and some bits had been primed +flatted and it was going to get primed and blocksanded and then hopefully it was getting painted last night.Lots of progress but no pics.Dave says that they are on target to give me it back in time for Louden castle. The colour will be a surprise for me aswell cos Dave explained that the colour I wanted can`t be done with waterbased paints so he`s taken on board what I want + he`s going to modify his paint mix to my spec.I`m mega chuffed with the work thats went in so far, look out for more subtle tweaks Edited February 27, 2014 by Stephano

Stephano 11
I was going in to the bodyshop almost on a daily occurrence at this stage so I didn`t miss anything... Some parts in primerAt this stage the car was about ready to get rubbed down + the archs done however when I went back they had been rolled+ sealed and the car was in primer but I didnae have the camera ... some of the subtle tweaks mentioned on the job sheet in the above pics casting marks smoothed off the bumpers, plate recess taken out the front bumper keeping the swage line, the rear window divider was painted gloss black, rear number plate tub narrowed a little to loose the gaps with my shorter numberplate I didn`t want a US tub so the guys plastic welded an off cut of another tub on to the original to subtly narrow it
Stephano 11
Before it was in the shop I had talked about changing the colour but after seeing the car in a long mirrored window I decided I had to keep it the same colour but with a twist! I had a good chat with the painter about what I wanted colour wise. There was 3 shades of dragon green in his paint chip book and we went with the darker shade of dragon green with the difference between them added to the mix...extra blue green gold + red I hadn`t seen the colour on anything so when I saw it on the car it would be a surprise to me!.... I also had sourced a new bootlid with no spoiler (saved welding up 6 holes in the original bootlid So I got the call to say it was getting painted the next morning and I wasn`t to come in as it would be in the booth. I got told to come in the day after near the close of play to see it outside..Outside pictures Edited February 27, 2014 by Stephano
Stephano 11
Reflection yO...it was still to get flatted and polished at this stage. Some off the bumpers etc,Indicator blanks from a Sharan were given the once over (they might not stay)
Stephano 11
Then the hard work of block sanding and polishing up began!!I got both bootylids painted just incase!
Stephano 11
A couple of days work to get it all flat+ polished then I let them build it up
Stephano 11
Some all together pics, I had wanted the Vento ready for a car show but at this stage we had missed our deadline! The 2.5 week turnaround had taken almost 6 weeks but the bumpers took longer than expected + the custom plate recess took 2 days to perfect but it looked factory so I didn`t really mind. This takes us up to August 2009

Stephano 11
However, I hadn`t given them enough time to turn them around in time so I got a loan of a set off wheels they just had lying around!!They are compomotive CXN2 splits, they are for a porsche and had been rebuilt using new centres powdercoated in sparkly silver along with the rear barrels, repolished lips and gold bolts. They are 7.5 and 8x16 et 42 ishI got the tyres on on sat afternoon before the show so I used the 30mm adaptors I already had but.... the rubbed like a mother (naughty swear),so I`m gonnae get 25mm adaptors for the front +get the rears machined down to 28 and I`ll be sortedOriginaly it was a loan but now I think I`ll be purchasing them. Stephano 11
Some pics from Fast + Modified show....our club stand (Fkindubs) was made up of mainly very clean oem+ cars and we won best outside stand and as it was a modified car show that consisted of lots of plastic+fibreglass contraptions was quite an achievement for us [/
Stephano 11
Combination of posts....lots of little things like service and roadtrips +new partsI used the vento for a family holiday to visit the mother-in-law in Folkstone and fully loaded with suitcases etc I got 35/36mpg No big update, for its MOT I had to re-fit my indicators in the wings, make a bracket to put my front numberplate on +raise it to stop the wheels hitting the archs + get a loan off a cat (cheers Gus) and it passed Then I lowered it +got the cat taken back off I`ve bought new indicators +towing eye blank to brighten up look of the lights and managed to get BniB foglights for £25I also traded my Teledials in for the compomotives and rolled the archs to stop them catching[/ Edited March 3, 2014 by Stephano

Stephano 11
August 2010Over the course of the summer it was used for family trips down south and apart from its service it ran faultlessly + not much else been happening apart from a slight reduction in height+ the wheels getting refurbed by Darren (my brother). I had decided to get the wheels redone to my taste as I wasn`t keen on the gold boltsas they were... the bolts had been gold plated just before I bought them and they weren`t my cup of tea so they got the heave-ho the nuts + bolts were stripped polished + re- chromed the lips were re-polished to make them shine again 7 and 8x16 compomotive CXN II's.Metallic silver centres, polished lips, stripped, polished and chromed nuts and bolts
Stephano 11
We (fkindubs) had a clubstand at the DC tenpointfive (the Scottish DC show) Deutch connection take over the Vw dealership + fill the showroom with there cars and run a free show for the Vag group fans show+ shine, raffle, bouncy castle, exclusive offers from the dealership on cars + parts Some new pics stolen from the show, I was pretty chuffed that the Vento got a top 10 placement we were narrowly beaten to best clubstand but 2 others in our club got a top ten placement+ my brother won best wheels! I had looked into getting compomotive badges but never liked any of the styles so as the wheels were Porsche fitment I got a set of Porsche badges in black+ silver and
