Radosteve 12
Hi just wondering if anyone who has one of these fitted had the same problem after fitting it . I'm running a CDA and the car was running great until I fitted the Bonrath , now it idles really badly and throwing up fault codes 00533 & 00553 both maf / idle speed related . Any reason why just changing the upper intake pipe would cause this cheers
Big J 283
I've got one on mine mate, along with a CDA, never had an issue. The only issue I did have was the rubber slipping off the throttle body end of the intake pipe.Sound like you may have an air leak after the MAF and it's trying to compensate for unmetered air flow. Radosteve 12
I will try stripping it down again tomorrow and start again , simple jobs alway end up the most annoying lol
VR6Pete 1,455
Sounds like something is not fitted correctly steve and you have an airleak after the MAF or you have damaged the MAF..... When I fitted mine it was a tight fit going onto the throttle body and on one occasion the rubber had not properly gone onto the throttle body which resulted in it running like a bag of spanners Radosteve
Lukey. 381
Are you obd2? Did you block up the rear takeoff?
Radosteve 12
Pretty sure it's Obd 1 Corrado , everything seems fitted correctly , block rear takeoff ? I just plumbed everything into it I took off the orig intake VR6Pete
PeteVRT 22
When I took it off, I had the pipe on the back which is for the idle valve I think? make sure it's a tight fit. And the breather one at the front was blanked as I ran a breather filter on the cam cover. It ran okay the other week when I drove the car up to my unit Radosteve
Lukey. 381
Yea if you're obd1 with an isv that goes on the rear takeoff, it's just an obvious air leak if you were obd2
Lukey. 381
Duh, your u/n is radosteve, should pay more attention lol Radosteve, PeteVRT and VR6Pete
Radosteve 12
Nope I took it all off in one piece and made sure it's all together correctly and still running crap , I have a good vacuumed on it cause if I put my hand over my CDA intake it's like a dyson. I can't even put my orig one back on now cause the part for the pcv broke off it when I was disconnecting it . So all I have now is a car that sits there reving between 1k and 1.5 k not happy at all , wouldn't have thought just a simple pipe would cause this much crap
Radosteve 12
I know the maf is ok cause i even tried a new one on it and the car cuts out if I unplug it
Big J 283
Unplug the MAF and see if it's any worse. If it's no different then in afraid the MAFs dead
Radosteve 12
Cuts out if I unplug it also the same on my spare one too .

It ran perfect on mine Radosteve
Big J 283
Hmmm can't be that then. Def sounds like a vac leak somewhere but where I wonder?? Radosteve
Radosteve 12
Think I have found the problem it's the ISV side of things acting like taking in too much air flow , if I compress the intake to it it sort of solves the problem but my idle speed still sits at 1k
Radosteve 12
Temporary fix is ok for now but the car feels down on power a lot now , it's doing my head in so I'm going to get hold of another standard intake and just get rid of the bonrath cause my car just don't like it for some strange reason
VR6Pete 1,455
Sounds like your ISV is buggered mate! A bonrath is just a pipe... I had one mine on my Corrado before I upgraded to OBD2.... I have an ISV and standard Corrado intake if your interested, what do you mean when you say you compress the intake?Club Chairman PeteVRT
Radosteve 12
I have had to put jubilee clips on the pipe and restrict the flow going to it proper bodge job lol .How much are you after for your ISV and intake mate I will take both off your hands cause if it's the ISV then I can keep the bonrath if not then just return to standard . PeteVRT 22
It can't be the pipe Steve, ran perfect on mine. I also run the 2.9 throttle body
PeteVRT 22
Other thing make sure the two rubber connectors haven't been split, could be sucking in air somewhere. I was never keen on them as they seem very soft and flexible, was going to use silicone samco pipes
Radosteve 12
I don't think it is either tbh mate can't see why it would be , I recon my ISV just decided to pack up at the same time I changed it for some reason . Just checked again and it's giving fault code 00533 which is ISV related anyway .
VR6Pete 1,455
There you go then! Not sure how much ISV and intake is worth mate? Make a reasonable offer and they are yours buddyClub Chairman
