mrslippery22 2
My Jetta is getting hot but only if I do not have the heater on. Does anyone have any information on why this might be happening. I replaced the coolant temp sensor but it didn't seem to fix the problem.
Ickyketseddie 89
Need more information really mate. Do the fans kick in? Is it only in traffic or when you're driving too? If it's when stationary, start with the fans, if it's when driving I'd suspect the thermostat is sticking. There's somewhere to start anyway. Lukey. 381
If that's the case then it sounds like your thermostat is stuck shut or your radiator is blocked, thermostats are cheap to replace but you can test them by boiling them in a pan of water and seeing if they open up. mrslippery22 2
yes my fans work i have 2 10in after market fans that are set to run constantly, i have replaced the thermostat twice, ive replaced thermostat housing , leaking hoses, coolant temp valve, and it is still getting warm put yes when I turn my heat on the temp will go down and if you just keep it on then it doesn't get hot at all. mrslippery22 2
Luke you said that to replace a thermostat is cheap. Just to let you know people in America don't know a Damn thing about vw and they want around $200 just to put a stat inSent from my VS930 4G using Tapatalk
CALICO 130
Its a simple enough job to do yourself took me about 2 hours the first time but that's because I broke the crack pipe.
mrslippery22 2
Yea I didn't think it was hardSent from my VS930 4G using Tapatalk
Lukey. 381
The stat itself is dead cheap and it's really easy to do it yourself just take the stat cover off on the housing under the inlet on the right hand side. You'll obviously need to replace the coolant as it will drop it all. You could do it with just a screwdriver and 5mm Allen key.
