PeteVRT 22
Just after some advise, I'm transplanting my VR6 into a 1.4 Golf, now was going to run without ABS but the two braking systems are completely different, servo, master cylinder and ABS pump. Looked at the two master cylinders, the two pipes come from the VR straight to the ABS pump. The 1.4 cylinder the pipes come out in different places and on the bulkhead go to tee pieces which I'm thinking of using but don't think the 1.4 cylinder will be up to the job. Do I use the VR6 cylinder and modify the pipes, and leave the brake position sensor just leave the wire disconnected in the VR6 servo, or is there another servo/master cylinder that will go straight on and pipe to the 1 into 2 on the bulkhead, will eventually be using S3 front brakes tooCheersPete

leon263 31
I recently converted my 2.0 8v Mk3 Cabrio to VR6 and encountered similar problems when I was forced to do an ABS delete on the Cabrio due to numerous faults in the ABS system. I eventually finished up using a brake servo from a non ABS Mk3 diesel, part number 1H2 612 105 and a twin outlet master cylinder from a non-abs Mk3 Gti. I had originally hoped to use the original ABS brake servo in the Cabrio but the mounting studs for the master cylinder that I used were in the wrong place. The master cylinder needed the studs at 3 and 9 o'clock while the ABS servo had offset studs which did not line up. The diesel servo was a straight swop, the master cylinder sat in the correct position and the brake plumbing was straightforward. I ran pipes from the two outlets on the master cylinder to two T pieces on the bulkhead and from there out to the wheel cylinders. One T piece fed the front right and rear left and the other fed the front left and rear right. Both rear feeds were plumbed into the brake bias module on the rear beam and from there out to the wheel cylinders. The car was duly MOT'd and flew through with no problems Edited March 12, 2015 by leon263
