how do i tell if my golf vr6 has a corrado 2.9 engine?

ive always wondered this as its not the original engine i have and fuel economy seems ever so slightly worse than a golf, plus gave 12+ bhp at stealth racing that it should of with my mods etc (well approx from research on here)................. are there any markings on the block indicating that its a 2.9 block??

any ideas where they are stamped? i know on my rs turbo its just above the gearbox bellhousing!

theres usually a sticker on the side of the rocker cover but its usually covered it dirt and cant make it out.

 

I think theres a flat face where theres a number stamped on the side of the block above  the crankshaft pulley.

The engine code is stamped on the block next to the belt tensioner.

Haha sorry to add to this but my engine number was stamped into the block on the gearbox side behind the rocker cover under a tone of grime. Theres a square flat surface which is at the top of the block faceing upwards. If you want a pic of where it was lemme know and ill send one.
