silverline 0
i removed the induction kit from my vr6 and to my amazement the car runs better with the standard airbox fitted!! as much as i love the growl from the induction kit i think its going to stay off. now the cars running better (specaily after replacing a faulty camshaft sensor) im seriously thinking of getting it chipped, any recommendations as to which chip? anyone else had similar experiences with induction kits and airboxes?feedback appreciated. Zonda_ 0
Weird, I've just fitted a K&N this afternoon and the difference in the car is astonishing! Not claiming any extra power, although it certainly feels quicker but the car feels smoother and the howl above 4k rpm is gonna cost me a fortune in fuel Maybe yours was sucking hot air in? silverline 0
yeah i reackon it was hot air from engine. noticable difference in running when hot and cold!!coullstar: i may sell the ram air but too sure as it does look and sound great! make me an offer.
VR6Pete 1,455
ive got a BMC CDA, with it having a carbon fibre canister, it helps prevent it from sucking in all the hot air..
silverline 0
i did toy with the idea of putting a cold air feed in but its all a bit tight in that area with the ram air fitted.its sooo quiet without the induction kit, you forget how loud they are!!
andy 0
I had exactly this situation with my ram-air, Its a hot air thing in the main. The VR6 generates a lot of heat in quite a small space, hot air kills all the gains and more of a performance filter imo. I enjoyed my Golf much more with the airbox back on. I've now got a BMC CDA which sounds good but not too loud and sucks in cold air only.
craggsy 91
Gotta get my arse in gear and get my BMC on
Eat this 2
hmmmm i may have a play with standard airbox see what it feels/sounds like i think the exhaust drowns most of the induction noise out anyway lol ps inghams runnin standard pipes and sounds sweet as
pete8tch 0
my carbono made a big difference when i replaced my k+n ind kit but the noise is nothing like as good
Eat this 2
anybody runnin airbox with k&n panel filter??
silverline 0
mines now completly standard with the airbox on and you can hardly hear the engine, just finished doing a long journey in it and im really glad i put the airbox back, felt so much smoother.
vr6matt 0
I am running with k&n panel filter and the sounds just a tiny bit louder than standard, i had an induction kit on for a weekend but took it off because used loads of fuel and made my car idle a bit funny. It also made me drive like a hooligan! lol !amazed I dont think there was much power difference between the panel filter induction kit personally?Matt
TVR6 0
I too have a standard set-up with K&N panel. Agree with vr6matt, slightly louder than standard filter but enhances natural VR6 sound. Also breathes eaiser and slightly more low down torque. Also have a Lonflife stainless system throught which has enhanced it.
