First hiccup in VR ownership

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, i went to take my mum tesco this morning after not driving the car since tuesday and my car didn't start :(

When i disarmed the alarm it gave 3 beeps which i later found out the manual says is either an attempted "attack" or low battery.

Anyway when i tried to start it all the dash lights came on fine then i tried cranking it and it just made a kind of drrrrrr noise (similar frequency to a machine gun) and the engine didn't crank, it came from the bottom back right of the engine bay near what i assume is the ABS hydraulic modulator (sorry for the vaugeness but my mum was the one listening)

After reading the alarm handbook about the 3 beeps thing i took out the battery and charged it, it was drawing a lot of current so was probably dead.

If it starts i'll take it to the V**xhall dealership where my dad works and get them to test the battery, if it's dead what size battery do VR6s need?

Here's me hoping that it's JUST the battery :)

It lives :D

Looks like it is the battery, it's only a cheapo battery in it that the previous owner fitted anyway, so i'll replace it with someting nice, nothing but good quality branded replacements for my baby :P
