jaks14 174
I bought myself a pair of brand new genuine hella standard tails at the vw festival for a 5 er. .. so with borrowing some tint spray from Daveyboy, I keyed them and taped up and layer down 5 coats of red.. The camera picture doesn't do them justice. . Look really nice and red on the car in person.. but it beats the bill of £150+ for OEM from Germany lol.. c00k
DanChave 98
The look cool, but personally I would have kept them standard and given them a good polish
jaks14 174
Been a while since I've been on here trading a couple of cars to where I am now... The mk2 was traded with a guy because I wanted to go down the boost route, ended up swapping it straight for a mk5 gti in black.. clean unmolested car to be fair, the interior was sublime. Then without even chasing it a guy ended up messaging me on the mk5 gti Facebook forum asking if I wanted to do a straight swap for his Audi A3 S-Line 3.2 v6 Quattro... I was a bit unsure at first thinking it was too good to be true.. Half heated leather, full audi history and the noise of the 24v v6... I said yeah why not, did a couple of checks and came up clear. Made the jump and got him to come to me just incase he was a no show.. messaged passed backwards and forwards and he ended up turning up !!! I think I may have got the better end of the deal It's has a few tweeks itself, including a lightweight sports clutch and flywheel just over 15k ago, new coil packs and injectors, countless major audi services, a titanium exhaust from the headers back, then a map to iron out the modifications.. engine is incredibly smooth and the noise is good but I will make it better once I get rid of the cats So my story goes on from here.. I think I may end up keeping this one but buying maybe another mk2/3 vr6 as a project car for myself.. Mk3highline, D11PS and daveyboy

jaks14 174
Cheers man.. I do like it.. seems to tick all the right boxes. . Just need some advice from r32 owners on what to do with exhaust to give it a better noise.. I'm tempted with cutting the cats open and removing the insides and welded back up plus a centre box delete.. but unsure what the 32 lads do.. I've heard of a flapper mod but need to do some research ...

SAW 3
Oak Green VR6 used to be my car. I had Trix do the VR6 conversion for me - would be 3 or 4 years ago now. The bodywork was the only thing letting the car down then, so good to see thats been addressed. Where is it now? Edited March 20, 2015 by SAW daveyboy
daveyboy 897
I think it's down in Kent somewhere now mate
jaks14 174
daveyboy is right, its in maidstone,kent.. i bought it from a guy in newcastle last year after it was sat in a garage for a year stripped down, i rebuilt it and re painted it (im a painter by trade) and since traded it on and ended up with this.. mk2 was a nice car when i finished with it. good clean paintwork, new wheels, fresh service.. but could have been a lot better if i had more time for it.. just wasnt usable enough for what i needed.. if i could have afforded to just keep it and garage i would have, just not an option at the time to be honest.. daveyboy
SAW 3
Yea I sold it to the lad from Newcastle who did say his intention was to have the car painted over the winter as it was all the car needed. I was using it daily at the time so wasn't able to have it painted. Would love another VR6 Mk2 but fancy something a bit different next time. Maybe VR6 turbo or 20vT for a change. The A3 looks really nice. Is it a manual or DSG? Edited March 21, 2015 by SAW
jaks14 174
It's a 6 speed manual mate, used to be a company car so it's had thousands of pounds spent on servicing from audi and specialist garages. A recent lightweight clutch and flywheel, a few other bits then it's had a map to tweak it a little, it's a very snappy motor.. just need to make it sound a bit better now. Gonna modify the cats and maybe delete a centre box to give it some grunt... I would like to get another mk2 as a project but that will be next year now if anything unless a bargain pops up... but again I think it would need a r32 or vr6 lump daveyboy and Bealieboy
