vdubhead 51
Hiya guys can you slam a vr safely on 15's or would that be a sump killer just want to be certain with experience from others before i go ahead and carry out the fitting of coilovers. Thanks guys
Reaperx 181
Be careful when going low as I wound mine down on coilovers and hit my sump driving onto a 4 post lift. I have since raised them its just finding the right balance.
Reaperx 181
You can also raise the engine using hockey pucks on the mounts or swap the sump for a shallower r32 one. Surreyvr6 and vdubhead
vdubhead 51
Is at an easy swap with r32 sump for that bit more clearance and thanks for the heads up of finding the balance
Reaperx 181
There is a guide on here somewhere for the sump I haven't done it myself yet but need to do something so I don't smash my sump in.
vdubhead 51
Yh mine already smashed on set lowered suspension but I think its to soft and find coilovers more firm
Reaperx 181
My coilovers where eBay ones and they are very stiff but Its my second car and going turbo so want it to handle.

daveyboy 897
I think if you put an R32 sump on you also need the oil pump too as the VR one is too deep for the R32 sump D11PS

daveyboy 897
I've got a puck in my front mount and it's gave the sump a nice amount of clearence vdubhead
vdubhead 51
How do you fit the puck in front mount?
daveyboy 897
I done mine when I done my engine swap so it was easy without the front end being on. But I'd say the easiest way of doing it with the front end on would be to unbolt the engine from the mount find a drill a millimetre or 2 bigger than the bolt and drill the centre of the puck. I used a flat bottom wood drill. Next get your trolley jack with a chock of wood on the sump and lift the front of the engine just enough to slide the puck in between the cross member and engine mount. Put the bolt through the top of the mount and slowly drop the engine back into place. Don't drop the engine fully though because you'll probably have to give the engine a bit of a wiggle to get the bolt to bite on the thread. Remember you'll need a longer bolt though. About an inch longer than the original should do vdubhead
