tombarker1991 2
Right here is my first Corrado, its a 1990 1.8 16v KR in inca blue. I bought this solely as a project I first planned on keeping the KR lump in it and just upgrading the cams and few other bits and tidying the bay up a bit as I was told that the engine had recently under gone a bottom end conversion and full rebuild with a recent complete service including belts, gaskets etc etc....But as I started stripping it down I realised nothing has been done other than the oil and oil filter and there are a few tell tale signs that its odds on to be nothing but grief, so after some help from a friend he sold me his 2.8 VR6 conversion he had ready to put in his MK1 golf but due to some of his other projects he isn't going to have time. its only missing a few little bits engine wise such as MAF and some other odds and sods, so the plan is to whip the KR out and get the VR stripped down and rebuilt planning on new cams and a few other bits which I'm hoping to find the info I need on here! So the plan with it is whilst the KR is out get the engine bay stripped down and smoothed up to hide the looms standard relocate the battery and washer bottle etc etc.Get the VR rebuilt and cleaned up, the car will be going in for a full respray in its original inca blue as well as getting the washer jets relocated, side indicators smoothed in as well as deleting the rear wiper and then at some point getting round to sorting the interior out and sourcing a solid wheel and brake setup thinking probably the usual G60's up front, I have set myself a dead line of Ultimate Dubs in march so I have my work cut out but for now here is how she is sitting... bennyk
tombarker1991 2
Had another day on the car today stripping some more down including the scuttle tray and disconnecting all the remaining pipework and wiring all thats left is to take off the driveshafts and undo the engine mounts and lift the engine out after.I have decided to drop a 2.8 VR6 lump in not really after big power but want that VR6 noise without the R32 conversion price tag, couldn't say no at the price I was offered it all for.. Also made a start on getting the rear stripped down to blank off the rear wiper and sort out the rear wing situation as I'm presuming mine has the raising rear spoiler?Started to give the sills a quick rub down with degreaser to prep again with waxoyl, but until the engine is out and I have seen pay day and I can start rebuilding the VR but here is a few pictures for now... Anyways, I have loads of spare bits if you need anything
